Capital strengthens coastal security with a new rescue jet ski
The municipality of Puerto del Rosario has introduced a new water‑craft that joins the local Fire and Rescue Service, specifically aimed at prevention and rescue operations on the sea.
The jet‑ski is equipped with a rigid stretcher at the rear that can be attached for the safe and swift evacuation of people from the water. Its design allows rapid intervention in coastal emergencies, complementing the existing fleet of rescue vessels and supporting the preventive aquatic programs carried out by the town throughout the year.
Key features of the new rescue jet‑ski:
- Rigid, detachable stretcher for water rescues
- High‑speed maneuverability for quick response
- Integrated into the municipal Fire and Rescue Service’s fleet of boats and equipment
- Supports both real‑time emergencies and scheduled preventive activities along the coastline
“This jet‑ski is specifically designed for prevention and rescue on the water, which represents a significant advance in our response capacity,” said Mayor David de Vera.
“The new resource becomes part of the aquatic rescue means of the Fire and Rescue Service and will allow us to intervene both in actual emergencies and in the preventive operations carried out along the municipal coast, thereby strengthening the safety of residents, visitors and tourists.”
The acquisition forms part of an ongoing strategy to equip municipal services with specialized tools suited to the characteristics of Puerto del Rosario’s shoreline and its intensive use, with the ultimate goal of protecting people and preserving the natural environment.
