Carlos de Saá's 'Empty' Exhibition Arrives in Lanzarote

The photographic exhibition ‘Vacío’, by Majorero photographer Carlos de Saá, will be on view until 6 June in the Cubo space of the Cultural Innovation Center (CIC) El Almacén in Lanzarote.

Background

The show follows its earlier run at the Juan Ismael Art Center in Puerto del Rosario (December 2020 – January 2021), a project funded by the Cabildo of Fuerteventura and the Government of the Canary Islands through the Canary Institute for Cultural Development.

Concept

Straddling documentary photography and personal art, Vacío offers a visual journey through Fuerteventura’s landscape during the COVID‑19 lockdown. The CIC El Almacén has refreshed the presentation with new contextual elements, including texts by María Valerón and Juan Darias.

“This project has helped me look at the landscape of Fuerteventura again, with a discovering gaze, surprising me with the desolate beauty of emptiness.” – Carlos de Saá

Public Programs

CIC El Almacén, part of the Culture department of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, will host guided tours and a debate panel moderated by María Valerón to explore the creation process behind the exhibition.
