Chamber of Commerce meets in Madrid with Senegal's President

The Chamber of Commerce of Fuerteventura met this morning with the President of Senegal in Madrid, at the Hotel Continental, to discuss cooperation on water and energy issues between the island and the sub‑Saharan country.
During the talks, Rodríguez Marichal, president of the Fuerteventura Chamber of Commerce, and Bassirou Diomaye Faye, President of Senegal, also discussed the upcoming renewable‑energy and water forum, Africagua, to be held in Senegal.
This would be the first time the event is organized outside the island of Fuerteventura, highlighting the willingness of regional countries—Morocco, Mauritania, Senegal, Guinea and Gambia—to find a common ground together with the Canary Islands.
“These high‑level meetings place us in the right context to relaunch the international influence of the islands, and in this sense we have been working for some time with the Government of the Canary Islands and the governments of this part of the continent,” said Rodríguez Marichal.
