Charged with Dumping Pruning Waste on La Oliva Road Verge

The surveillance cameras of the La Oliva Town Hall, which rotate from one location to another, captured on this occasion offenders depositing pruning waste in an unauthorized spot. The Eco Point of Corralejo and the Clean Point of Los Lajares collect for free from individuals pruning residues, rubble, wood and metal, electronic waste, etc.

The Town Hall of La Oliva continues to sanction residents who violate the Municipal Ordinance on Cleaning and Waste Management in Corralejo. This enforcement is made possible by the recent installation of a city‑wide video‑surveillance network managed by the Citizen Security Department, together with agents from the UMA of the Local Police. The effort is coordinated with the Road‑Cleaning Department, headed by Rubén González, and the Environment Department, led by David Fajardo.

In this particular case, the system detected the infraction in the Tamaragua area. The placement of cameras at strategic points throughout the municipality—rotated regularly—has not only improved public‑safety resources but also captured the first acts of incivility, such as the illegal dumping of pruning waste and rubble in or near the designated containers.

The network of 65 cameras that supports both citizen safety and road safety also aids the municipal cleaning service. By monitoring the public space, the system can identify individuals who disregard the ordinance and deposit waste outside the authorized zones, the town council reported from the Citizen Security Department under the mayor’s direction.

Proper disposal of pruning waste, rubble and similar materials must be done at the Clean Point of Los Lajares (open daily from 09:00 to 13:00) or at the Eco Point of Corralejo (Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 13:00). Keeping the municipality clean is a shared responsibility.

“With this system we not only work daily to improve the safety of our neighbours, but we also enable other important actions, such as identifying those who do not comply with the rules for waste disposal and who dirty public spaces,” said Mayor Isaí Blanco.

“Collaboration with the UMA agents of the Local Police has been vital for pinpointing those who commit these acts. These individuals dump pruning waste, rubble and other materials in the wrong containers, when they should use the designated clean points,” added Rubén González, Councilor for Road Cleaning.

“One of our priorities has been to restore that essential role for the natural environment of our municipality. Through the UMA agents we can mediate to ensure the established regulations are respected and maintain our commitment to preserving the environment. This follows the strategy we have pursued since the beginning of the legislative term in the Environment Department: inform, raise awareness, and sanction those who do not understand,” emphasized David Fajardo, Councilor for the Environment.
