Classes Cancelled in Fuerteventura This Thursday

The Education Department of the Government of the Canary Islands announced that in‑person teaching activities are suspended across the entire archipelago due to the approaching low‑pressure system “Claudia.” While schools will remain closed, telematic (online) instruction will continue in those institutions that are able to provide it.

The department, which met on Wednesday, clarified that no staff—administrative, teaching, or socio‑educational—will be present at the schools. This decision follows the recommendations of the Directorate General of Emergencies and Civil Protection and comes amid alerts for strong winds, heavy rain, and flood risk.

The measure is intended to prevent travel and avoid incidents as the forecasted weather conditions develop over the next few hours throughout the islands.
