Clavijo stresses “building solutions through consensus” at the State of the Nation debate

The spokesperson for the Canary Islands Government, Alfonso Cabello, announced that President Fernando Clavijo will focus his speech at the State of Nationality debate on “building solutions through consensus” to address the archipelago’s challenges.

Cabello, who also serves as Vice‑Councillor for the Presidency, made the statement on Monday during the press conference that followed the Council of Government. He added that the discussion will stress dialogue and participation as key elements for tackling the islands’ problems.

“We are experiencing, on a global level, a debate over many foundations that have been solid for the past 25 years. From the Canary Islands we must be able to keep reacting to these contingent issues without forgetting our inherent structural challenges as an ultra‑peripheral region,” he said.

Cabello also explained that the autonomous community needs the Canary Islands to continue advancing in order to consolidate the positive indicators that have emerged over recent years.
