Climate Change Impacts the Canary Islands' Coasts

The III Environmental Technical Day of the Cabildo addresses the effects of climate change on the archipelago’s coasts

The Cabildo of Fuerteventura, through its Department of Environment, continues its 2026 program of Courses, Days and Environmental Conferences – a meeting space aimed at fostering specialized reflection and activating responses to Fuerteventura’s environmental challenges.

Accordingly, on March 26 the III Environmental Technical Day will be held at the Fuerteventura Training and Congress Palace, focusing on coastal impacts in the Canary Islands and Fuerteventura caused by climate change.

“The program of Courses, Days and Environmental Conferences of the island corporation seeks to strengthen the training and capacity‑building of the various social actors involved in natural space management, biodiversity conservation, and climate‑change adaptation,” said Carlos Rodríguez, the island’s Environment Counselor.

The event will also feature Marlene Figueroa, the Biosphere Reserve Counselor, who highlighted the forum as a work and reflection platform that serves as a meeting point for the different agents involved in environmental matters.
