.Course registration opens to qualify for reduced waste fee in the capital

.# Registration Opens for Course to Qualify for Reduced Waste Tax in Puerto del Rosario

Only those who complete the training will be eligible for the new waste‑tax discounts—up to 30 % for registered residents and 20 % for businesses. The Puerto del Rosario City Council announced this second round of training sessions, available both online and in‑person, with registrations open until 16 February and courses running from 27 January to 19 February 2026.

The recent approval of the new Waste‑Management Tax Ordinance, which implements a substantial increase in fees mandated by national law, makes the training a mandatory prerequisite to claim the promised reductions: 30 % for households and 20 % for commercial premises. After completing the course, applicants must submit a request for the discount at the City Hall’s intake desk by 28 February 2026, providing the cadastral reference of the property or business.

The municipality is offering a second opportunity to attend the “Training on Awareness, Recycling, Waste Management and Circular Economy.” Registration is open from 22 January and will close on 16 February, with the last training session held on 19 February. Participants can choose between in‑person and online formats (registration via this link). Once the course is finished, applicants must complete a separate bonus‑application form to receive the discount.

“Training Without Travel” – An Opportunity to Learn Recycling

“This action allows us to bring environmental education to every neighbourhood, making it possible for each resident to train without the need for long trips,” said Mayor David de Vera in the official statement. “Making training accessible to the whole population is essential for moving toward a cleaner, more committed Puerto del Rosario.”

Councilor for Economy and Finance Juan Manuel Verdugo added:

“The training is not only a prerequisite for the municipal discounts, but also a chance for citizens to understand how to reduce, separate, and manage waste in daily life. Circular economy is a cornerstone of our fiscal and environmental policy, and we are promoting tools that help embed these habits in homes and businesses.”

Deadlines and Formats

  • In‑person training: 22 sessions across the municipality, each lasting 3 hours. Residents can sign up for a single session that best fits their schedule. Sessions run from 27 January to 19 February 2026 at locations such as the E2 Formación academy (C/ María Estrada 21), the Senior Center, Casillas del Ángel, El Matorral, and the Municipal Youth Center (Universidad Popular).

  • Online training: Available 27 January – 19 February 2026. Participants access the content through a virtual campus provided by the training company, complete a final multiple‑choice test, and receive a certificate. The format is ideal for those needing greater flexibility.

  • Registration period: 22 January – 16 February 2026.

  • Application deadline for the discount: 28 February 2026 (must include the property’s cadastral reference).

How to Register

These training sessions aim to empower residents and businesses to adopt sustainable waste‑management practices while unlocking significant savings on the newly increased waste tax.
