Drug sales point dismantled in El Matorral

More than 25 g of cocaine, 100 g of hashish, MDMA and psychotropic substances seized

The National Police in Puerto del Rosario has dismantled a clandestine drug‑selling point in the El Matorral neighbourhood of the island’s capital, concluding an investigation carried out by the Narcotics Unit of the Local Judicial Police Brigade.

Operation details

  • The investigation began in mid‑December 2025 after authorities learned that cocaine and hashish were being distributed from a residence in a residential area of El Matorral.
  • The house is located next to a municipal football field and only a few minutes’ walk from a school, raising serious concerns because of the regular presence of minors and young people.
  • Judicial authorization allowed police to raid the property on 19 February, resulting in the arrest of two suspects—a man and a woman—accused of drug‑trafficking.

Seized items

  • 25.6 g of cocaine
  • 103.70 g of hashish
  • 1 g of MDMA
  • 14 bottles of poppers
  • 2 containers of anxiolytic medication
  • €900 in small‑denomination cash
  • Equipment for handling and dosing drugs (precision scale, knife, spoons with residue)
  • One vehicle allegedly used for distribution

“With this operation, the National Police has eradicated a drug‑distribution hub in the community, reinforcing safety in an area especially sensitive because of the presence of minors,” the police statement read.

The detainees have been placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority.

Citizen collaboration

The National Police stresses the importance of public cooperation in identifying drug‑selling points, particularly in residential zones and near educational centres.
