Early preparations at Pozo Negro Farm ahead of Feaga 2026

Overview

The Cabildo has begun pruning palm trees, conditioning the green areas and adapting the parking facilities in the months leading up to the fair, scheduled for 16 – 19 April 2026 at the Experimental Farm.

Press Release

The Cabildo’s Service of Works and Machinery, through its own Territorial and Environmental Management and Planning unit (Gesplan) and as part of the “Fuerteventura, Beautiful by Nature” programme, has started work to adapt the various spaces of the Pozo Negro Experimental Farm for the upcoming Fuerteventura Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Fair (Feaga).

“Feaga is a top‑level showcase for the Primary sector and for many of Fuerteventura’s economies, which is why we involve the crews from the ‘Fuerteventura, Beautiful by Nature’ programme,” explained the Councillor for Works and Machinery, Blas Acosta.

Each year, Feaga gathers professionals from the sector across all the islands, with their tools, exhibition specimens and competition entries, attracting thousands of visitors to this unique event in the Canary Islands, as well as a large number of tourists.

The crews of “Fuerteventura, Beautiful by Nature,” a powerful programme of small‑scale local works promoted by the Cabildo, began this week with a work plan that includes the overall adaptation and maintenance of the fairgrounds and their surroundings.

  • The first action has been the pruning of palm trees and removal of fronds.
  • Upcoming tasks will include:
    • Installing fences to protect the trees.
    • Restoring stone walls.
    • Creating water pits.
    • Landscaping the gardens.
    • Upgrading parking areas to ensure safe traffic flow and vehicle parking.

Feaga is a good example of inter‑administrative collaboration, as its organization each year requires participation from municipalities, institutions, entities and companies, in addition to the Cabildo, as well as the commitment of Primary‑sector professionals.

As every year, Feaga will be the most important Canary venue for sector exchange and promotion. The event will feature local product exhibitions, technical sessions, displays and flagship competitions such as the National Goat‑Milk Cheese Contest – Tabefe Awards.
