Education launches new vocational cycles, dual degrees, and zoned programs in Fuerteventura
New courses in agriculture, commerce, hospitality, and sociocultural services expand training in high‑demand sectors
The Directorate of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity and Sports, led by Poli Suárez, will expand the vocational training (FP) offer in Fuerteventura for the upcoming academic year. The plan includes new medium‑ and higher‑level programs, dual‑degree options, adapted training itineraries, and specialization courses. This update is part of the island’s new FP map, designed to align the curriculum with the real needs of each territory and enable students to study closer to home.
On an island characterized by long distances between municipalities and population centres, careful planning of the educational offer is crucial. The goal is to bring vocational training nearer to the local community, distribute programmes more evenly across zones, and respond to professional profiles linked both to the island’s productive fabric and to students’ aspirations.
In this context, the launch this year of the Integrated Vocational Training Centre (CIFP) in Morro Jable marks a decisive step for the southern part of the island. It eliminates the need for journeys of over one hundred kilometres, improving equal access to these studies. The new centre began operations with courses from several professional families and more than a hundred students, meeting a historic demand from the local educational community and strengthening the presence of FP across the territory, allowing a broader and more diverse range of training cycles.
The new offer includes:
Agriculture family
- Agroecological Production
- Agro‑pecuarian Production
- Auxiliary Activities in Agriculture (adapted itineraries)
Commerce and Marketing family
- Food Product Commercialisation
- Commercial Activities
- Marketing and Advertising (semi‑presential)
- Dual degree: Sales Management & Commercial Spaces / Marketing and Advertising
Installation and Maintenance family
- Maintenance of Thermal and Fluid Installations
Hospitality and Tourism family

- Dual degree: Kitchen Management / Restaurant Services Management

Administration and Management family

These additions reinforce the primary sector with qualified professionals, expand a growing commercial and marketing branch, and address strategic sectors vital to Fuerteventura’s economy. By diversifying and geographically spreading the curriculum, the island aligns its educational provision with the specific needs of each area.
The expansion in Fuerteventura is part of the sustained growth of vocational training across the Canary Islands, which already exceeds 47,600 students and aims to surpass 52,000 enrolments in the next academic year. Within this broader context, Fuerteventura strengthens its strategic role in the region’s push—led by Poli Suárez—for a more accessible, island‑focused, and territory‑aligned vocational education system.
