Emergency Agency issues pre‑alert for storms in Fuerteventura and Lanzarote

The Canary Islands Directorate General of Emergencies has declared a storm pre‑alert for the islands of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote as of 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 26.

According to the regional government, the decision is based on information provided by the State Meteorological Agency and other available sources, and is made under the Canary Islands Specific Emergency Plan for Risks from Adverse Meteorological Phenomena (PEFMA).

Specifically, storm activity is expected over Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and surrounding areas, with locally heavy showers forecast throughout the afternoon.

The Directorate also warned that hail cannot be ruled out.
