Enrique Pérez Brito to assume Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Ministry duties
AM-CC Supports Lola García’s Decision to Remove Matías Peña’s Powers in the Cabildo
The executive of Asamblea Majorera – Coalición Canaria Fuerteventura backs the decision taken by the president of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, Lola García, after announcing the dismissal of the former councilor of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Matías Peña.
The revocation of the political agreement in the municipality of Antigua between Asamblea Majorera – Coalición Canaria (AM‑CC) and Alternativa Local por Antigua (ALxAN), motivated by repeated breaches of institutional loyalty, has had repercussions for island administration. In this context, and following Matías Peña’s removal as councilor, the collaboration framework signed at the start of the term is now concluded. The political organization also endorses this determination, considering it
“a sign of coherence, responsibility and internal unity.”
AM‑CC emphasizes that Enrique Pérez Brito, who now assumes the delegated functions of the Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries area, will work to strengthen the management of the primary‑sector department, ensure effective coordination, and guarantee the continuity of ongoing projects.
For this reason, the party conveys its full support for a sector it deems strategic,
“not only for its contribution to the island’s food sovereignty, but also for its essential value in preserving the identity and sustainable development of Fuerteventura.”
Asamblea Majorera – Coalición Canaria Fuerteventura wants to reassure citizens, reaffirming the solidity of the island pact with the Socialist Party and guaranteeing that this change will not affect the Cabildo’s stability.
“Our priority is that the island administration continues to develop in coordination with our government partners. This decision will not interfere with the proper functioning nor the stability that has been maintained so far.”
