Every Ten Minutes a Child Dies in Gaza: Canary Islands for Palestine to Honor Their Names

The Canary Islands for Palestine collective has announced a public ceremony to honor the Palestinian children who have lost their lives in Gaza. The vigil will take place on Monday, 15 September, in Plaza de Santa Ana, the historic square of Vegueta (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria), from 13:00 to 21:00.

Event Details

  • Purpose: Read aloud the names of the child victims as an act of memory and a denunciation of the violence endured by the Palestinian population.
  • Location: Plaza de Santa Ana, Vegueta, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
  • Time: 13:00 – 21:00.
  • Participants: Representatives from cultural, sporting, educational, scientific, business and institutional sectors, together with the general public.
  • Coordination: The event is linked with the “Artists with Palestine” initiative, which will hold a similar ceremony in Madrid on the same day.

“According to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), a child dies in Gaza every ten minutes, and the total number of child victims now exceeds 20,000.”

The organizers aim to make the suffering of Palestinian children visible, demanding justice and respect for human rights. The ceremony is open to anyone who wishes to join the call for solidarity.
