Excitement and Wind in Jandía for the 44 Cup
Frenchman Aleph remains the leader of the race
The third day of the 44 Cup Marina Jandía once again delivered the circuit’s best show, driven by a steady north‑west wind blowing between 15 and 20 knots and a consistent swell that tested the crews from the first start. With conditions both stable and demanding, the race committee was able to complete the three scheduled regattas, always with the imposing Jandía coastline as a backdrop.
The battle for the fleet lead made it clear that the competition remains completely open. Artemis Racing took the first race ahead of Guemera and Charisma, but Guemera answered authoritatively in the second, again beating Artemis and leaving Team Aqua in third place. The day’s closing race brought another twist, with Nika securing a hard‑won victory, followed by Península and Charisma. With this distribution of wins, the overall standings turned upside down: Guemera moves into the lead with 28 points, Nika climbs to second with 33, and Artemis Racing jumps into the fight from third place. The biggest loser of the day was Aleph, who had led until yesterday, dropping to fourth in a leaderboard marked by tight parity.
It was not an easy day either for the Lanzarote Calero Sailing Team, forced to withdraw from the second race due to a damaged rudder and unable to start the third. The team hopes to regain its rhythm tomorrow and finish the event with a result that matches its effort. On land, the atmosphere was equally supportive. The organizers provided a free spectator boat, highly sought after by locals and tourists, who enjoyed the action up close from the Magic Sailing catamaran.
Tomorrow the final day of the 44 Cup Marina Jandía will be contested, and with a forecast of wind dropping in the afternoon, the committee has moved the first warning signal forward to 11:00. If the forecast holds, around 14:30 we will learn not only the event winner but also the 2025 circuit champion. With everything so tight, no one dares to place bets.
