Expropriation of 60 Parcels in Antigua Begins for Highway Project

City Council Hosts Procedure to Lift About 60 Occupation Certificates for the North‑South Axis

The technical team of the General Directorate of Road Infrastructure and Mobility traveled to Antigua this week to carry out the issuance of pre‑occupation certificates required for the construction of the north‑south highway, specifically the section from the airport to the Pozo Negro junction.

The Antigua City Council has made its plenary hall available to meet with roughly 60 local residents who own the plots and land affected by the highway’s passage through the municipality.

The operation is part of the 2018‑2027 Canary‑State Roads Agreement, aimed at improving mobility and strengthening road safety on the island’s north‑south corridor.

Mayor Matías Peña García has signed all the expropriation agreements reached between the parties, including three plots owned by the municipality.
