FEAGA 2026 Welcomes School Visits
Around 3,000 students from roughly fifteen schools on Fuerteventura visited the Agricultural, Livestock and Fisheries Fair (FEAGA) held at the Pozo Negro Experimental Farm.
The president of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, Lola García, and the councilor for Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Enrique Pérez, welcomed the pupils at this edition of FEAGA, which aims to foster generational renewal from an early age.
During the visit, the students took a guided tour of the plant nurseries and the oil‑mill where the farm produces its own olive oil. They also observed:
- Threshing demonstrations using donkeys and local cattle
- Sheep shearing sessions
- A commented exhibition of the Canary bovine breed
In addition, the youngsters participated in a tasting workshop featuring a selection of Fuerteventura’s agricultural products.
The primary‑school children also joined the traditional sports and games organized under the “No Olvides Lo Nuestro” program of the Cabildo’s Sports Department, which runs throughout the weekend. Thanks to the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Rural Environment Management agency, they were able to attend workshops on the valorisation of local products.
The event highlighted the region’s commitment to connecting young people with the island’s agricultural heritage and to promoting sustainable, locally‑sourced food production.
