Feaga Just Around the Corner
The Cabildo of Fuerteventura held a meeting on Thursday with representatives of the Majorero primary sector to coordinate their participation in the upcoming edition of the Fuerteventura Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Fair (FEAGA 2026), scheduled for April 16‑19. The working session, part of the fair’s preparations, was led by the island’s president, Lola García, and the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Enrique Pérez, who considered suggestions and contributions to the program of this new edition.
Also present were staff from the Ministry and the Pozo Negro Experimental Farm, the first deputy mayor of Pájara, Alexis Alonso, and area councilors José Díaz (Pájara), Jonathan Peña (Tuineje), José Cerdeña (Betancuria), David de León (Puerto del Rosario) and Rubén González (La Oliva).
“The sector’s involvement is what has allowed FEAGA to become solid,” said Lola García. “The fair belongs to the professionals of the primary sector, so it is essential to keep these coordination meetings so they can take part in its development. This participation, together with that of collectives and companies in the sector, makes FEAGA possible.”
Enrique Pérez highlighted the indispensable role of primary‑sector professionals in FEAGA’s success: “Their contribution is crucial for the fair’s development,” he said, noting their strong involvement in livestock and local product exhibitions, technical sessions, contests, and other program activities. “Without them, none of this would be possible.”
During the meeting, Lola García and Enrique Pérez also briefed attendees on the work being done to launch the next call for primary‑sector aid from the island corporation, addressing the professionals’ demands and concerns and reaffirming the Cabildo’s commitment to the sector’s competitiveness.
