Fire at Zurita Paper Plant

The fire broke out at midday and was very intense.

A fire of considerable magnitude ignited at the Zurita waste plant in Puerto del Rosario around noon.

The blaze started in the paper‑processing section of the Zurita environmental complex, leaving only material damage despite the force of the flames.

Strong winds hampered the firefighters’ efforts, and they continued working on the scene until 3:30 p.m..

At 5:30 p.m., sources from the Island Council confirmed to this newsroom that the fire is now under control.
