Fitur Launches with United Fuerteventura and Its Municipalities

Fuerteventura and its six municipalities are taking part in FITUR 2026 this week, launching a schedule of meetings and events that began with the announcement of a new direct air link between the island and Romania. Tour operator Karpaten confirmed a charter flight from Bucharest every Sunday from June to September.

Fuerteventura Opens to the Romanian Tourist Market

The destination was officially presented at FITUR 2026 with a clear message of cohesion between public institutions and the private sector. The headline announcement was the inauguration of a direct air connection with Romania, after Karpaten confirmed a weekly charter between Bucharest and the island every Sunday from 14 June to 20 September, offering accommodation in four‑ and five‑star hotels.

“We come to the fair with the will to grow in quality, not in quantity, betting on tourism that respects the territory and brings real benefits to the local economy and employment,” said Lola García, President of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura.

“A united destination that works to open new markets and generate added value,” added Marlene Figueroa, Island Councilor for Tourism.

Audiovisual Promotion and Professional Agenda

The official presentation took place at the Canary Islands stand, where two promotional pieces were screened to reach the final consumer via social media:

  • Fuerteventura, Eternal Summer, a cinematic video by Majorero filmmaker Adrián Tejero.
  • A tourism reel created by content producer Enmanuel Morales Schmidt (FuerteVidorra).

The Majorero delegation’s agenda also includes meetings with international tour operators and technical sessions with other Canary delegations, set against optimistic forecasts for the first quarter—anticipating longer stays and higher per‑visitor revenue. This marks the first joint meeting between the Cabildo and the island’s municipalities at FITUR 2026.

Municipalities Schedule Presentations at FITUR

Each municipality has planned its own showcase:

  • La Oliva will host two events:
    • A FITUR Sport session where Mayor Isaí Blanco and Sports Councilor Gleiber Carreño present the town’s active and sports tourism offerings.
    • An event titled “Breathe Nature, Discover the History of La Oliva” on Thursday, 22 January in Madrid.
  • Pájara will present its tourism proposal on Thursday, 22 January at 12:30 p.m. at the Canary Tourist Municipalities Association stand.
  • Tuineje will unveil a new promotional video on Friday, 23 January in the MTC pavilion.
  • Puerto del Rosario, Antigua, and Betancuria will also be present in Madrid, with activities scheduled throughout the week.

These coordinated efforts aim to showcase the island’s diverse attractions and reinforce a unified brand for Fuerteventura on the international stage.
