Flights keep getting canceled in the Canary Islands as winds rise
During the morning of Saturday, the Canary Islands’ airports recorded six flight cancellations due to the “Therese” storm.
The passage of the low‑pressure system “Therese” across the archipelago has brought strong winds, heavy rain, and rough seas, prompting a series of cancellations:
- La Palma Airport – three flights from Tenerife North and one flight from Gran Canaria were cancelled.
- El Hierro Airport – two flights originating in Tenerife North were cancelled.
Just the day before, on Friday, the Canary Islands experienced up to 25 cancellations and five diversions as “Therese” impacted various points of the archipelago.
The adverse weather conditions are expected to persist, keeping the wind as the main factor affecting air traffic throughout the weekend
