Fuerteventura Airport loses 3% of passengers this January
Canary Islands airports stabilize in January with 4.5 million passengers, up 0.1%
In January 2026 the airports of the Canary Islands recorded a total of 4,592,312 passengers, a modest increase of 0.1 % compared with the same month a year earlier.
- Commercial passengers: 4,572,756
- Domestic flights: 1,583,175 (down 2 % from January 2025)
- International flights: 2,989,581 (up 1.8 % from January 2025)
- Aircraft movements: 40,430
- Cargo transported: 2,619 tonnes
Passenger numbers by airport
- Gran Canaria Airport: 1,398,924 passengers (+2.1 % vs. Jan 2025) – the busiest airport in the archipelago.
- Tenerife South Airport: 1,275,134 passengers (‑1 %).
- César Manrique–Lanzarote Airport: 703,457 passengers (+0.3 %).
- Fuerteventura Airport: 533,137 passengers (‑3 %).
- Tenerife North – Ciudad de La Laguna Airport: 525,988 passengers (+1.1 %).
- La Palma Airport: 125,063 passengers (‑0.9 %).
- El Hierro Airport: 21,629 passengers (‑5.3 %).
- La Gomera Airport: 8,980 passengers (‑1.4 %).
Aena Group performance
The Aena network – comprising 46 airports and two heliports in Spain, London‑Luton Airport, and 17 airports in Brazil – closed the first month of 2026 with 25,830,159 passengers, a rise of 3.3 % over the same month in 2025.
- Aircraft movements: 221,194 (‑0.7 % vs. 2025).
- Cargo handled: 115,876 tonnes (+7.1 %).
