Fuerteventura allocated 15 places in new paid youth training programme
A new Canary Islands funding call includes 15 places in Fuerteventura, offering paid work and training for unemployed people under 30.
Fuerteventura has been allocated one project with 15 places in a new Canary Islands funding call. The scheme offers training and paid work to young unemployed people.
Onda Fuerteventura reported the 2026 call on 30 October. The Servicio Canario de Empleo (SCE) runs the scheme. Across the Canary Islands, €7,105,730.75 will fund 17 projects for 255 young jobseekers.
The announcement confirms how many places the island will have and who can take part. It does not give a start date for the project or explain how to apply.
Who the programme is for
To take part, people must be unemployed and under 30. They must also be registered with the Sistema Nacional de Garantía Juvenil, Spain’s national Youth Guarantee system. Those with no previous formal qualifications will have priority.
More than 55% of places are reserved for women. Victims of gender-based violence will be given preference.
Those selected will receive an 11-month contract that combines work and training. Paid work will account for 65% of their working time. They will spend the remaining 35% on theory and practical training towards professional certificates.
The work will involve services or projects that benefit society.
At least one project for each island
The funding call guarantees at least one project per island. Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro will each have one project with 15 places. Tenerife and Gran Canaria will each have six projects and 90 places.
The European Social Fund Plus Canary Islands 2021–2027 programme is co-financing 85% of the investment. Tourism and Employment Minister Jéssica de León said the scheme aims to help young people find work. It will offer paid experience and professional qualifications.
