Fuerteventura braces for a windy week with possible rain as a new storm approaches

Fuerteventura will face, over the coming days, a meteorological instability episode triggered by the approach of an Atlantic low that will affect the entire Canary archipelago. Forecasts point to wind, increased cloud cover and possible precipitation, although on the eastern islands such as Fuerteventura the rain is expected to be weaker than elsewhere in the archipelago.

According to weather models, the situation will begin to change as a cold low settles west of the Iberian Peninsula, generating a more humid air flow and causing rainfall to spread progressively across the Canaries.

More Wind and Unstable Atmosphere

In the case of Fuerteventura, the episode will be noticeable mainly for the rise in wind and the presence of intermittent cloudiness, with occasional showers possible at various moments during the week. Heavier precipitation is expected on the western islands and in higher terrain, where totals could exceed 150 liters per square metre over seven days in some areas.

Experts note that the wind may shift to a westerly component and gain strength as the low approaches the archipelago, contributing to a more unstable weather pattern for several days.

An Episode That Could Last

Meteorological forecasts indicate that this instability could persist for much of the week, with several fronts associated with the low moving in.

Although rainfall on Fuerteventura is usually less intense due to the lack of significant mountainous relief, the island may still experience changes in sea state, moderate to strong wind gusts, and a slight drop in temperatures.

Authorities advise staying attentive to weather updates, especially in coastal or wind‑exposed zones, in case the storm intensifies at any point.
