Fuerteventura celebrates a “100% Canary May” with over 40 events and a Taifas dance
The Cabildo of Fuerteventura, through its Department of Culture, has launched the “May 100 % Canarias” programme, offering more than forty events and activities for all audiences throughout the month of May.
The schedule mixes music, dance, theatre, exhibitions, literature, conferences on Canary identity and other shows. Activities are organised by the Department of Culture in collaboration with Cultural Heritage, the Island Library Centre, the Juan Ismael Art Centre, the Museums of Fuerteventura and the Archaeological Museum, and are supported by the Government of the Canary Islands. The full programme is available on www.culturafuerteventura.es.
The importance of “Canary‑ness in all its forms”
“With this programme we celebrate the Canary Islands as we are: from our identity, our traditions and our way of understanding this land, continuing the work we have been promoting from the Cabildo to reinforce what defines and identifies us.” – Lola García
“Canary‑ness matters in every form, not only from tradition but also from modernity, with activities for all audiences and by highlighting Canary companies, creators and experts across different fields.” – Rayco León, Councillor for Culture
