Fuerteventura Council Continues Parental Control Workshops
The next session will be held on November 3 at the cultural association Raíz del Pueblo (La Oliva).
The Cabildo of Fuerteventura, through its Department of New Technologies, reaffirms its commitment to digital education and the protection of minors by continuing the training programme “Parental Control and Safe Use of Mobile Phones and Tablets.” Financed by the FDCAN programme, the initiative is currently touring various towns across the island with the aim of empowering mothers and fathers to ensure responsible and safe use of mobile technologies by their children.
As part of the project, a new open‑to‑public talk will take place on Monday, 3 November, at 19:00 in the headquarters of the cultural association Raíz del Pueblo. The session is intended for any parent who wishes to deepen their knowledge of parental‑control tools and the safe use of mobile devices.
The training talks, which have been very well received, focus on providing families with practical tools to monitor and manage digital device usage effectively. During the sessions, facilitators discuss both the benefits and the risks associated with mobile phones and tablets, present a range of parental‑control applications, and guide participants on how to configure devices to create a secure digital environment.
In addition to the instructional component, attendees receive support materials, practical guides and digital resources designed to help families navigate the online world together.
“More and more children are accessing technology and social networks at very early ages; that’s why we consider this programme vital,” says Carmen Alonso, the island’s counselor for New Technologies.
“Empowering families with useful and up‑to‑date information is essential so they can accompany their children in the digital world,” she adds, emphasizing the need to address digital risks from the home environment.
The project represents a key step toward building a digitally prepared society, promoting innovation and knowledge through training and ongoing support for citizens in the digital age. The counselor also thanks the cultural association Raíz del Pueblo for its collaboration in the upcoming session.
