Fuerteventura Council Opens 2025/26 Scholarships for Study, Housing, and Mobility
The Island Council of Fuerteventura, through its Department of Education, has launched the scholarship call for the 2025/2026 academic year, targeting both island residents and students pursuing studies abroad. Applications will be accepted until October 15 and can be submitted via the website becas.cabildofuer.es.
The call includes the two broadest scholarship lines offered by the island authority, aimed at students in compulsory secondary education (ESO), Baccalaureate, Vocational Training, as well as undergraduate and postgraduate university studies. In addition, mobility scholarships have been opened for participants in programmes such as Erasmus, SICUE, or Séneca, together with accommodation grants for public school residences. For these, the deadline is October 6, and applications may be filed electronically through the Council’s e‑office or in person at the registration and citizen‑service offices.
The Council President, Lola García, and the Education Counselor, Adargoma Hernández, emphasized the institution’s commitment to education, noting that Fuerteventura is the island corporation that allocates the most resources to scholarships in the Canary Islands and the only one that offers aid for ESO and Baccalaureate levels.
“In the 2024/2025 academic year we granted €4.6 million in scholarships, the largest investment in the Council’s history. Our goal is to keep expanding support for families and students,” said García.
Hernández highlighted recent advances:
“We have introduced improvements such as expanding aid for postgraduate studies and specialised vocational training, lowering the disability threshold, and progressively advancing the call deadlines.”
He also pointed out that Fuerteventura is the only Council that has fully digitised the application and scoring process, ensuring speed and accessibility.
With these scholarships, the Council reaffirms its dedication to education as a driver of social and economic development, solidifying its position as the island authority with the highest investment in scholarships and the most comprehensive study‑support programmes in the Canary Islands.
