Fuerteventura Council Opens Application Window forPractical Training Scholarships
The application period opens on March 30, and the internships will take place from July 15 to August 31 in public and private entities on the island.
The Island Council of Fuerteventura, through the Department of Education, has opened the call for a new round of practical‑training scholarships aimed at university degree students and vocational‑training (FP) students.
These scholarships will enable selected students to carry out training internships between July 15 and August 31 in public and private entities on Fuerteventura that are affiliated with the programme, providing a first work experience linked to their studies.
The application window will open on Monday, March 30 and remain open until April 14, via the website becaspracticas.cabildofuer.es.
The financial aid includes:
- €2,092.50 for university degree students
- €1,360.13 for vocational‑training (FP) students
Council President Lola García highlighted the pioneering nature of the programme, which for more than twenty years has offered a work opportunity to over 3,000 students. The scheme allows participants to gain an initial foothold in the labour market, carrying out internships not only with the Council but also with town halls and other collaborating entities.
The Council’s Minister of Water, Education and Youth, Adargoma Hernández, underscored the programme’s importance for facilitating youth employment on the island:
“This scholarship programme represents a real opportunity for our students to have their first contact with the world of work. We have been promoting this pioneering initiative for more than twenty years, linking education with practical experience, and it has allowed more than 3,000 young people from Fuerteventura to carry out their first professional internships.”
The scholarship programme has become a flagship initiative in the Canary Islands, being the only Island Council that maintains such a scheme, with over two decades of experience supporting youth training and employability.
To submit an application, candidates must have a digital certificate. The Council reminds applicants that the Island Youth Center can assist in verifying identity during the digital‑certificate acquisition process, easing the procedure for young people.
For minor students, the application may be signed by their parents or legal guardians using their own digital certificates.
With this call, the Island Council of Fuerteventura reaffirms its commitment to education, youth employment, and talent retention on the island, offering students the chance to apply their knowledge in a real professional environment.
