Fuerteventura Highlights at Fitur Its Drive to Boost Direct Flights to Strategic Markets

The Cabildo of Fuerteventura has faced the second day of FITUR emphasizing the consolidation and reinforcement of its direct air connectivity with strategic markets. This aligns with the island’s goal of moving toward a more balanced, sustainable tourism model that delivers greater social and economic returns, the island corporation said in a press release.

In this context, tour operator Itaka has confirmed the reinforcement of its operations with Fuerteventura from the Polish market, one of the destination’s strategic sources of visitors. Meanwhile, the British group Jet2 maintains its commitment to the island in its 2026 schedule, bolstering the stability of the British market.

The municipalities of Antigua, Pájara, La Oliva, and Puerto del Rosario also presented their tourism offerings at the fair, highlighting products linked to the territory, local identity, and the diversification of the visitor experience.

“It is important that the Cabildo, the Tourism Board, and the town halls attend FITUR in a coordinated way, with a common strategy focused on better managing the destination, strengthening the quality of our offer, and ensuring that tourism generates real benefits for the island,” said island president Lola García.
She added that the objective is “to keep advancing toward tourism that creates local jobs, opportunities for our SMEs and self‑employed, and that contributes to improving the lives of those who live in Fuerteventura, always respecting the territory and our natural resources.”

“Direct air connectivity is a key planning tool that allows us to order tourist flows, work with consolidated markets, and move toward a model based on quality, sustainability, and employment stability, rather than quantitative growth,” said Marlene Figueroa, the Cabildo’s tourism counselor.

During the second day of FITUR, the Fuerteventura Tourism Board held working meetings with operators and reference platforms such as British Airways, Jumbo Tours, Minube.com, Mondiale Tourism, Viajes El Corte Inglés, Edelweiss Airlines, and MasterChef World. Additional meetings were held with Itaka and Jet2, and the board attended presentations by international operators EasyJet Airlines and Nati Tourism.
