Fuerteventura kite festival returns to Corralejo and El Cotillo from 9 November
More than 200 kite flyers are expected for the week-long festival, with drone displays planned over Corralejo Bay on 13 and 14 November.
Fuerteventura’s 39th International Kite Festival will take place in Corralejo and El Cotillo from 9 to 15 November, bringing together more than 200 kite flyers from around the world.
Alongside the kites, drone displays are planned over Corralejo Bay after nightfall on 13 and 14 November. Organisers say the display will use 500 drones and will be the largest of its kind in the Canary Islands to date.
The daytime programme will also include an astronomy and science event, a giant figures park and the second ‘Kitefestival’ rapid painting competition. The available announcement does not give times or specific locations for these activities.
La Oliva’s tourism and environment councillor, David Fajardo, said environmental guides, perimeter fencing, shuttle services, ecological toilets and environmental workshops would be used to help protect the area during the event.
The festival is presented by La Oliva council alongside the Fuerteventura Cabildo and the Canary Islands Government.
