Fuerteventura Promotes Destination with Professional Meetings in Helsinki, Stockholm, and Copenhagen
“Scandinavian tourism is a unique market that values our landscapes and the quality of Majorcan hospitality.”
Tourism officials from Fuerteventura have organized a series of professional meetings in Helsinki, Stockholm and Copenhagen as part of the sales campaign for the upcoming season, aiming to raise the island’s profile in the Scandinavian market.
Strategic Action
In a statement, the island’s tourism corporation highlighted that the commercial activities carried out this week in Finland, Sweden and Denmark were considered strategic for the current sales campaign.
Tourism Counselor Marlene Figueroa, who led the Majorcan hotel delegation to this key market, explained:
“This action is strategic to reposition ourselves in a Nordic market that values our landscapes and the quality of Majorcan hospitality.”
She added that the island is prioritizing promotion in markets whose characteristics—such as high spending power and a calm, inquisitive client profile—can positively influence the quality of life in Fuerteventura.
Key Objectives
- Strengthen the new regular connection operated by Scandinavian airline SAS, which will link Copenhagen with Fuerteventura from 1 November and connect the island with all Scandinavian capitals.
- Showcase Fuerteventura’s offer directly to local operators during the August sales peaks in Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Norway.
Delegation and Institutional Support
The hotel delegation represented major groups, including:
- Oasis Wildlife
- Coral Cotillo Beach Hotel
- Elba Hotels
- Fergus Hotels
- Meliá Hotels
- LIVVO Hotels
- Princess Hotels
- R2 Hotels
The initiative received organizational backing and institutional reinforcement from the Spanish embassies in the Nordic capitals, reflecting a high‑level commitment from the Government of Spain. The delegation presented itself to local operators with “unity and strength,” according to the council.
Meetings in the Nordic Capitals
- Helsinki – The delegation met travel agents at The Scandic Hotel Simonkenttä, accompanied by the tourism counselor at the Spanish Embassy in Finland, Julio Jiménez.
- Stockholm – The professional encounter took place at the Birger Jarl Hotel, supported by the tourism counselor at the Spanish Embassy in Sweden, Milagros Montes López.
- Copenhagen – The final meeting was held at The Radisson Royal, reinforced by the tourism counselor at the Spanish Embassy in Denmark, Ignacio Jiménez.
Tourism Roadmap and Visitor Spending
The tourism roadmap for recapturing the Scandinavian market leverages the seasonal sales peaks to present Fuerteventura’s offerings on site.
According to the Cabildo, the average daily spend (excluding flights) of tourists from these markets is:
- Finland: €158 per day
- Sweden: €128.3 per day
- Norway: €108.3 per day
These figures underline the economic potential of the Nordic segment for Fuerteventura’s tourism sector.
