Fuerteventura rain pre-alert updated on 3 November as localised downpours forecast
The Canary Islands Government updated its rain pre-alert on 3 November, warning of heavy showers in Fuerteventura. The report does not confirm whether it remains in force on 5 November.
The Canary Islands Government updated its rain pre-alert for Fuerteventura on 3 November 2026. A separate pre-alert for thunderstorms remained in place across the Canary Islands.
The rain pre-alert took effect at 10:00 that Tuesday. The regional Directorate-General for Emergencies warned of rain in Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and La Graciosa. It said rainfall could reach or exceed 15 millimetres in one hour. This is equal to 15 litres per square metre. Thunderstorms were also possible.
These were forecasts issued on 3 November, not confirmed rainfall measurements. The source does not confirm whether the pre-alerts remain in force on 5 November.
What was forecast for Fuerteventura?
At first, Tuesday’s rain was expected to be lighter in the eastern islands than in the western islands and Gran Canaria. But emergency officials warned that rain could be more concentrated in parts of Fuerteventura on Wednesday 4 November.
They said weather conditions could cause storms to stay over some places. This could lead to prolonged or concentrated downpours. It was unclear where the rain would fall, how heavy it would be or how long it would last.
The Directorate-General for Emergencies said it was monitoring the weather and any incidents linked to rain and thunderstorms. The pre-alerts were based on forecasts from Spain’s state weather agency, AEMET, and other available sources. They were issued under PEFMA, the Canary Islands’ emergency plan for severe weather.
The report gives no later observations or account of what happened during Wednesday’s forecast period.
