Fuerteventura Students Show Broad Support for Palestine Strike

The student strike is part of a nationwide day of protest under the slogan “Stop the genocide against Palestine. Break with Israel now.”

Secondary and high‑school classrooms in Fuerteventura were practically empty on Wednesday, following the massive participation in the national strike called by the Student Union in solidarity with the Palestinian people.

Education officials reported early in the morning that attendance reached almost 100 %, leaving many classes with hardly any students. The call to action targeted pupils from the third year of compulsory secondary education (3.º de ESO) and resonated strongly across the island.

In addition to the widespread absence from schools scheduled for 12:00 p.m. in several provincial capitals, including Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

In Fuerteventura, the protest agenda continues on Saturday, 4 October, with a march in Puerto del Rosario set to start at 6:00 p.m. from the fountain in the city’s main square. The rally is backed by various social groups aiming to highlight the situation in Gaza and denounce the Israeli offensive.
