Fuerteventura students will have more housing options in Las Palmas

The Cabildo celebrates the approval by the FULP of a new student residence in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

The President of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, Lola García, and the Education Counselor, Adargoma Hernández, welcomed the decision of the Fundación Universitaria de Las Palmas (FULP) to purchase a plot of land and build a student residence in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

As a patron of the FULP, the island corporation applauds a measure approved in an extraordinary session that will help meet the accommodation needs of students from the island of Fuerteventura.

“This initiative will help address the housing problems of Fuerteventura’s students, one of the main demands from island residents who want to pursue higher education,” President Lola García said.
She also called for coordination between institutions and joint work between the Cabildo and the FULP to continue providing solutions to this issue, which especially affects non‑capital islands such as Fuerteventura.

“We are grateful that this institution is hearing the housing problems of Fuerteventura’s students and that everyone is working together to find solutions as far as possible,” said Adargoma Hernández, the island’s Education Counselor and Cabildo representative on the FULP Board.
Hernández highlighted the long‑standing collaboration between the Cabildo and the FULP in promoting education and employment on the island.

The FULP, represented by its President Alberto Cabré, also emphasized the strong support from the Cabildo of Fuerteventura for the project, noting the urgent need for accommodation among island students who travel to Gran Canaria for higher studies.

The new student residence will be located in the Primero de Mayo area and will involve an investment of approximately €3 million.
