Fuerteventura Takes Center Stage at Cannes Festival

El Ser Querido by Sorogoyen Nominated for the Palme d’Or

The film El Ser Querido, shot almost entirely on the island of Fuerteventura, is aiming for the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival, one of cinema’s most prestigious events. The island’s Majoro landscapes will become a visual reference in a campaign unlike any other for Fuerteventura.

El Ser Querido, starring Javier Bardem and Victoria Luengo, explores the strained relationship between a father—a renowned film director played by Bardem—and his daughter, an unlucky actress portrayed by Luengo, whom he has not seen for years.

The premise bears some resemblance to Valor sentimental, the Cannes winner last year and Oscar holder for Best International Feature, but, in the words of the Spanish director, it is a completely different film.
