Fuerteventura to join Canary Islands delegation at World Cheese Awards in Córdoba

Fuerteventura’s Cabildo and Pájara council will join a Canary Islands delegation at the cheese festival in Córdoba from 12 to 15 November.

Fuerteventura’s Cabildo and Pájara council are due to join a Canary Islands delegation at the World Cheese Awards and International Cheese Festival in Córdoba from 12 to 15 November 2026.

The delegation will also include the Canary Islands Government’s Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, headed by Narvay Quintero. The event takes place at Córdoba’s Exhibition, Fair and Convention Centre.

The competition is scheduled to begin on Thursday 12 November, with around 300 judges from around the world expected to assess the cheeses. More than 5,000 varieties from different countries are due to be brought to the four-day event. The panel will include food critics, sommeliers and master cheesemakers, who will assess qualities including aroma, flavour and texture.

The festival is also open to visitors. Its programme includes an artisan market with cheese tastings, as well as tastings and workshops in an experimentation space covering cheese cutting and different types of milk. Visitors will also be able to sample wines, beers and jams.

Guided World Cheese Arena Tours are planned, giving visitors a closer view of the competition area and the judges at work.
