Fuerteventura wraps up London tourism talks on winter flights and demand
Fuerteventura’s tourism team met airlines and tour operators from five European markets in London to discuss demand and flights for winter 2026/27.
Fuerteventura’s tourism board ended its visit to London’s World Travel Market on 6 November after three days of talks. The team met airlines and tour operators to discuss winter demand, flight links and ways to promote the island.
Marlene Figueroa led the talks with teams from the UK, France, Hungary, Romania and Denmark. She is the Cabildo’s tourism councillor and vice-president of the tourism board.
British Airways’ new London Heathrow–Fuerteventura route is due to start on 13 December 2026, with two flights a week. Scheduled airlines are reported to be offering 442,672 seats from the UK for winter 2026/27. The UK is the island’s main source market.
Five European markets represented
The team met TUI UK, easyJet UK, British Airways, Jet2 Holidays and Via Sale. Other firms at the talks included Thalasso nº1, Karavel-Promovacances, Karpaten, Grupo Galaxi and Bravo Tours.
The talks explored the outlook for winter demand and ways to promote Fuerteventura in each market. Flight links and operators’ sales plans for the island were a key focus.
The team took part under the Turismo Islas Canarias umbrella at the Promotur Canarias stand. The tourist areas of Antigua, La Oliva and Pájara were also represented, alongside local tourism businesses.
Figueroa said direct contact with operators and airlines was essential to adapting the island’s promotion to each market. The tourism board plans to follow up with the contacts made in London. These contacts will help shape its promotion and sales work for winter 2026/27.
