Gas Prices Set to Rise Again This Friday
A Decrease in Fuel Consumption Is Beginning to Be Felt Across the Canary Islands
The current price of a litre of 95‑octane gasoline is €1.46, and diesel is €1.62. These figures are close to the historical highs recorded on the island, but the story does not end there. This Friday the price per litre of fuel is set to increase again.
“It will go up by about three cents, two or three cents, most likely for both gasoline and diesel,” said sources from various service stations.
Regarding the anti‑crisis measures approved by the government, the station explained that they have received no information, so they cannot apply the discount.
“We have no news. Neither the government has told us anything, nor the oil companies have applied any discount. Because, of course, all that is reflected in the program. When you dispense fuel, the discount you are supposed to give has to be declared later in order to receive the money,” they explained.
The sector remains fraught with uncertainty, and there is no expectation that the conflict will be resolved in the short term.
They also clarified why gasoline prices are not falling even though Brent crude has.
“Transport has to be insured; they use an insurance house, and the cost ranges between 300% and 1,000% of the increase. Iran discovered the tariffs, like Trump, and now it is also charging for any tanker that loads and passes through its waters.”
