GDR Maxorata Invites Ideas for Environmental Sustainability Umbrella Projects
GDR Maxorata will hold an informational session on Thursday, October 16 at 7 p.m. at the Antigua Youth Center to present its “Umbrella Projects” program—an initiative that fully funds ideas and actions proposed by residents, associations, or entities that contribute to the social, economic, or environmental improvement of the municipality.
The call is open to individuals, groups, and companies that wish to submit projects with a positive impact on their community. According to the organization, selected projects may receive up to 100 % financing of their total cost.
After previous presentations in La Oliva and Puerto del Rosario, the initiative now reaches Antigua with the support of the municipal council, which has provided the venue and is helping to promote the campaign. The council announced that the session will allow attendees to ask questions directly to GDR Maxorata’s technical team about eligibility criteria and the funding application process.
Mayor’s Call to Action
Matías Peña García, mayor of Antigua, island councilor for the primary sector, and coordinator of GDR Maxorata, urged citizens to take part, stating:
“Your idea can become reality; just present it as a group of at least five people, and make sure its goal is to improve our environment, our municipality, and, by extension, our island.”
He added that the Umbrella Projects are “a perfect tool to foster citizen participation and turn good ideas into concrete, beneficial actions for everyone.”
