GES helicopter rescues woman in Peñitas Ravine

The woman broke a leg at the popular photo spot near the Secret Arch.
This noon, at around 14:55, rescue services had to mobilize the helicopter to assist a 50‑year‑old woman who, at the initial moment of assistance, presented a mild lower‑limb injury. She was transferred in a basic‑life‑support ambulance of the SUC to the General Hospital of Fuerteventura Virgen de la Peña.

At the aforementioned time, the Emergency and Security Coordination Center (CECOES) 112 of the Government of the Canary Islands received an alert from two hikers because one could not continue the trek due to a lower‑limb injury.

Local Police and Pájara firefighters reached the injured hiker, but requested aerial rescue because a ground evacuation was difficult.

The GES helicopter, with the collaboration of firefighters and police, rescued the hiker and transferred her to Fuerteventura Airport.

After landing, SUC personnel attended to the injured woman before evacuating her to the hospital.
