Government approves 2026 work calendar, with Fuerteventura's local holidays already set
The Council of Government of the Canary Islands has approved the draft decree that establishes the autonomous community’s labor calendar for 2026, incorporating national, regional, island and local holidays.
The Department of Tourism and Employment published, in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC), the dates of the local holidays for each municipality, in compliance with labor regulations. The calendar sets a maximum of fourteen non‑working days, paid and non‑recoverable, of which two correspond to each municipality’s own festivities. These days were approved by the municipal plenary sessions and forwarded to the Directorate General of Labor Office for subsequent publication in the BOC.
The file was managed by the Department of Tourism and Employment, headed by Jéssica de León, after the deadline for proposals from the 88 Canary municipalities had closed.
