Government Grants €4 Million to Island for Strategic Projects and Core Infrastructure

Funding is aimed at boosting projects driven by the Fuerteventura Technology Park and road‑improvement actions.

The island council highlights the approval of more than €4 million in investment for various strategic projects in Fuerteventura, a decision taken this Wednesday by the Government of the Canary Islands. The money will be allocated to initiatives promoted by the Fuerteventura Island Council through the Technology Park, as well as a budget of roughly €90,000 for road‑related works.

“These are agreements that positively affect Fuerteventura’s economic development and infrastructure, within the coordinated effort of both administrations to address the island’s main needs,” said Lola García, president of the Island Council.

García added that the Canary Islands Government’s authorization of the €4 million represents a significant endorsement for strategic projects:

“These resources will allow us to keep advancing the island’s modernization and economic diversification from the Technology Park, without neglecting essential basic‑infrastructure actions for citizens such as road improvements.”

The bulk of the approved funds is earmarked for the Fuerteventura Technology Park, an infrastructure championed by the Island Council as a cornerstone of the island’s strategy for economic diversification, innovation, and investment attraction.

The Technology Park has become a reference hub for the development of technological and scientific projects, the establishment of innovative companies, and the creation of skilled jobs—particularly in sectors linked to energy, sustainability, digitalisation, territorial observation, and efficient resource management.

García expressed gratitude for the support of regional officials:

  • Manuel Miranda, Regional Minister for Territorial Policy, Cohesion and Water, and
  • Migdalia Machín, Regional Minister for Universities, Science, Innovation and Culture,

…who have shown sensitivity toward Fuerteventura in promoting projects that benefit Canary society at large and the island in particular.

In addition to the funding for the Technology Park, the Government Council also approved a near‑€90,000 allocation for road works on Fuerteventura, aimed at improving road safety and the condition of the island’s road network.

The Island Council stresses that these more than €4 million align with the development model being pursued on the island—one based on innovation, economic diversification, sustainability, and continuous infrastructure improvement.
