Government Issues New Pre‑Alert Over Rough Seas

Waves up to 5 meters high expected over the weekend on the island

The Government of the Canary Islands, through the Directorate General of Emergencies, updates the situation and maintains a pre‑alert for coastal phenomena across the entire archipelago as of 12:00 p.m. today, Thursday, December 18. This decision is based on information provided by the State Meteorological Agency and other available sources, and is made in accordance with the Canary Islands Specific Emergency Plan for Adverse Meteorological Phenomena.

Waves of up to 5 meters in height are expected along the northern and western coasts of Fuerteventura, prompting authorities to urge extreme caution in coastal areas and while swimming throughout the island.
