Gran Tarajal upgrades its power grid with an €800,000+ investment
The Fuerteventura port will improve electricity supply and safety for vessels and port services.
Puertos Canarios has awarded a contract worth €802,017 for the low‑voltage electrical system upgrade at the port of Gran Tarajal in Tuineje, Fuerteventura. The work will be carried out by Sampol Ingeniería y Obras, S.A. over a period of four months.
The project aims to enhance the quality of the power supply and ensure the operational reliability of the port infrastructure, which in recent years has suffered outages affecting lighting, port facilities, and the provisioning of vessels.
“Modernizing Gran Tarajal’s electrical system was a priority to strengthen the reliability of a key port for the economic and fishing activity of southern Fuerteventura,” said José Gilberto Moreno, Managing Director of Puertos Canarios.
The works include the design and implementation of an electrical project that complies with current regulations, as well as an increase in the contracted power capacity for more efficient operation.
With this intervention, the port will have a more modern, safe, and adaptable electrical installation, guaranteeing reliable service for users and maritime traffic at the strategically important enclave of Tuineje.
