Groundforce ground staff strike at Fuerteventura Airport
The strike will begin on Monday, March 30, and will affect 12 airports across the country
CCOO, UGT and USO have called an indefinite strike for Groundforce ground‑handling workers starting Monday, March 30. The action will be carried out in three separate time slots and will impact all 12 airports where the company operates, after postponing the call‑off by three days—originally scheduled to start on Friday.
The strike will run daily during the following periods, indefinitely:
- 05:00 – 07:00
- 11:00 – 17:00
- 22:00 – 00:00
It targets handling (ground assistance) services at the following airports:
- Barcelona
- Madrid
- Alicante
- Valencia
- Palma de Mallorca
- Ibiza
- Málaga
- Gran Canaria
- Tenerife
- Lanzarote
- Fuerteventura
- Bilbao
The unions say the strike is a response to “the company’s management failure to meet the salary commitments set out in the collective agreement.” They add that the firm’s unilateral interpretation of the agreement “in practice is causing a direct loss of purchasing power.”
“The company is using a restrictive reading of article 96 of the agreement to nullify the provisions of article 94, which guarantees salary updates in line with inflation accumulated since 2022,” – CCOO.
CCOO also accuses management of cutting agreed salary increases for certain professional groups, stating that this “constitutes a direct breach of the current collective agreement and creates unjustified inequalities within the workforce.”
