Guiguan Project arrives with the Tample in Fuerteventura at the FIMC

Alexis Lemes, Javier Infante and Javier Colina perform alongside German trumpeter Markus Stockhausen in the festival’s parallel program.

The timple returns to the International Canary Islands Music Festival thanks to Guiguan Project, the trio of Alexis Lemes (timple), Javier Infante (guitar) and Javier Colina (double bass). They will be joined as guest musician by renowned German trumpeter and composer Markus Stockhausen.

Tour dates

  • Tuesday, 13 January – Teatro El Salinero, Lanzarote
  • Wednesday, 14 January – Palacio de Formación y Congresos, Fuerteventura
  • Thursday, 16 January – Teatro Guiniguada, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
  • Friday, 17 January – Former Convent of Santo Domingo, La Laguna (Tenerife)

The concerts are part of the #EnParalelo program, organized by the Government of the Canary Islands in collaboration with the island councils. Tickets cost a flat €15 and are available through the festival’s official website and the usual ticket outlets for each venue.

Artistic vision

Guiguan Project describes its approach as “the sublime art of listening.” Their music blends island roots, jazz, and contemporary sounds. The repertoire features traditional pieces such as “Sorondongo,” “Tanganillo,” “Folías Conejeras,” and “Jameos,” alongside original compositions like “Guiguan,” all performed in dialogue with the guest artist.

International collaboration

Partnering with Markus Stockhausen—a leading figure in the European jazz scene—adds an international dimension to the project. Stockhausen is celebrated for his work in improvisation and contemporary creation, and his accolades include the German Jazz Award and the Echo Jazz prize.

“The timple’s voice, enriched by jazz improvisation, creates a bridge between our Canary heritage and the global music landscape,” said Stockhausen during a recent rehearsal.
