HiperDino Donates About 450 Tons of Food in 2025

HiperDino donated roughly 450 tonnes of food throughout 2025 to various social organisations operating in the Canary Islands that assist people in vulnerable situations. The donation was announced by the DinoSol Foundation, which highlighted that the products were delivered under the “Alimentos con Vida” (Food with Life) project, launched in 2020 during the COVID‑19 pandemic.

“With this initiative, HiperDino continues to develop a pioneering project in the islands’ food sector, consisting of donating non‑saleable but still consumable products,” said Davinia Domínguez, president of the foundation.

“This allows us to achieve the most important goal: providing coverage to the people who are worst off in the Canary Islands, who face fragile and sensitive economic situations. At the same time, we reduce food waste in stores, which is very positive for environmental protection and ensures sustainability across all food processes.”

Types of Food Donated

  • 95 % of the items are considered basic necessities: milk, bread, cereals, as well as fresh vegetables and fruits.
  • Smaller portions include cured meats, such as ham.

Beneficiaries

The primary recipients are:

  • Women, who represent a high percentage of the beneficiaries.
  • Households certified by the social services of the various Canary municipalities, including:
    • Single‑parent families
    • Elderly individuals
    • Victims of gender‑based violence

Impact in 2025

Domínguez reported that the project reached 29 beneficiary organisations and served 33 social canteens, meaning that approximately 13 000 people received food daily across the islands during the year.

“We close this year having met that target and we plan to maintain our commitment to the most vulnerable families in 2026,” she affirmed.
