Holiday travel falls 18% in the Canary Islands
The vacation‑rental market in the Canary Islands continues its decline, with April 2026 showing an 18 % drop in the number of properties listed on digital intermediary platforms and a 19 % decrease in the number of available slots compared with a year earlier.
According to the Canary Islands Institute of Statistics (ISTAC), the experimental housing‑vacation statistics recorded 42,367 units advertised in the first four months of the year (down from 43,381 in March) and 173,770 slots (down from 178,037 the previous month). The same study indicates that 94.18 % of the vacation‑rental properties listed in the Canary Islands received at least one reservation in April.
In April, total revenue from vacation rentals amounted to €74 million, a sharp decline from €120 million in March, despite the Easter holidays.
