Iberia Express Boosts Capacity with 30,000 New Seats in the Canary Islands

Flights from Fuerteventura to Madrid are available from €16.

Iberia Express has scheduled 116 additional flights for the 2025/2026 winter season on its Canary routes and has carried out 153 upgrades to larger‑capacity aircraft to increase the number of seats offered.

The airline reiterates its commitment to year‑round connectivity for Canary residents, promoting a regular and stable operation that supports responsible and sustainable tourism across the islands.

Key capacity increases include:

  • Tenerife North: +15,000 seats
  • Gran Canaria: +8,300 seats

These enhancements coincide with the airline’s biggest price campaign, offering flights to Madrid from €13 per segment for residents.

5% Capacity Boost – About 30,000 Extra Seats

Between October 2025 and January 2026, Iberia Express will add roughly 30,000 seats (a 5 % increase over the previously planned capacity). This growth is achieved by:

  • Adding 116 extra flights to the schedule
  • Upgrading more than 150 aircraft on these routes to A321neo models, thereby raising seat availability

The airline emphasizes that this expansion aims to improve connectivity for the Canary Islands and its inhabitants, fostering less seasonal, more sustainable, and responsible tourism throughout the archipelago.

Up to 52 Daily Flights Between the Canaries and Madrid

  • Tenerife North: Over 15,000 additional seats; up to 8 daily frequencies to Madrid during winter.
  • Tenerife South: About 850 extra seats; 3 daily frequencies.
  • Gran Canaria: Nearly 8,300 extra seats, including 42 additional flights; up to 10 daily frequencies.
  • Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, and La Palma: Combined 4,500 additional seats.

All flights are now available for purchase at www.iberiaexpress.com.

“This capacity increase in the Canary Islands reflects the firm commitment we have made to the islands since the start of our operations—a commitment we have maintained and reinforced over the years, proving that we will always be with the Canaries under any circumstance,” said Isabel Rodríguez, Commercial Director of Iberia Express.
“Aware of the responsibility to guarantee island connectivity for both residents and visitors, we have worked to optimise our fleet utilisation and allocate more capacity on routes linking the Canaries with Madrid and, through this hub, with the entire short‑, medium‑ and long‑haul network of the Iberia Group.”

Efficient Connections Through Madrid

Around 21 % of passengers traveling between the Canary Islands and Madrid continue on to other destinations. Iberia Express has therefore designed its timetable to facilitate smooth connections across the Iberia Group network.

Frequent short‑haul connections include Palma de Mallorca, Vigo, and Alicante. The airline’s extensive schedule coverage—combined with a punctuality rate exceeding 90 %—ensures efficient links to both domestic and international destinations.
