Island Athletics Center Gets a Fit Cube for Functional Training

The Insular Athletics Center of Fuerteventura (CAIF) has installed the first Cubo Fit in a public sports facility on the island, a new piece of equipment dedicated to functional training for athletes. According to a statement from the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, the acquisition is part of the Strategic Plan for Sports Infrastructure of Island Interest and marks a further step in modernising the venue, which is regarded as a benchmark for athletics on the island.

The Cubo Fit is a compact functional‑training unit that allows athletes to work on strength, endurance and coordination, providing a comprehensive preparation directly on the track. Designed for comfort and efficiency, the equipment adapts to the current needs of sportspeople and streamlines training routines.

“The island corporation remains committed to equipping sports facilities with modern, versatile resources that improve athletic performance and promote healthy lifestyle habits,” said Lola García, President of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, during the hand‑over ceremony.

Sports Minister Luis González highlighted the importance of maintaining and upgrading existing sports venues. He explained that the Island‑Interest Sports Infrastructure Programme guarantees a minimum annual budget of €30,000 for municipalities to ensure facilities are kept in good condition and their services are enhanced.

“Investing in the upkeep and improvement of our sports infrastructure is essential for the community’s well‑being,” González added.

The meeting also featured Gleiber Carreño, Sports Councilor of the La Oliva City Council, who praised the addition of the new resource. During the event, a collaboration agreement was signed between the Cabildo and the La Oliva City Council to continue promoting joint projects aimed at the maintenance and improvement of the island’s sports facilities.
